Beat Skater Patch Notes - December 8th

Hey Skaters! Today marks the launch of the final patch for the year, but don't worry! We'll be back and as busy as ever with updates next year as the Flip Studios team works toward our launch in February. This patch is a large one, over doubling the game in size through adding many bug/performance fixes, many user experience changes, new obstacles to jump over and grind on, and oh yeah, THE ABILITY TO GRIND! Rhythm

Added a newly updated music track

Added a variety of new sound effects, including a 2 mistakes sounds, a new trick popping sound, and 3 different grinding sounds!


Movement

Grinding has officially been added! Hop on any rail(or rail-like object) to mount it in a spectacular, spark filled grind

Player movement speed has been increased, with the scalar movement speed with the combo meter being removed altogether (This is done to create a more consistent experience throughout a run)

Turning has been adjusted to be much snappier and more responsive to the tilt input


Environment

Many new obstacles have been added, including 4 new grindable objects to coincide with the new grinding system! We won't cover them all here, but skate street to discover them.

Obstacle density has been greatly increased, allowing you to chain together even gnarlier combos than we ever thought possible! Can you reach the max?

Performing tricks over jumpable obstacles will now grant players a bonus to their combo multiplier, in addition to just being radical.


Combos and Points

Maintaining a combo has been made slightly more difficult through breaking after a missed trick opportunity

To counteract this, grinding will HOLD a combo from breaking for the duration that players are on the rails

Points, Points, Points! Point values, in addition to the multipliers gained, for tricks have been adjusted across the board to give players more points at a lower combo level

Other Fixes

A nasty bug that got players stuck on objects has been fixed

Fixed a bug that would allow players to get stuck out of bounds of the map

Removed Herobrine(?)

Fixed  bug that was causing the combo meter to be unbreakable

Fixed a bug that gave players WAY more forward momentum after a trick than intended
