Patch Notes - August 31st, 2021

How's skating in space been?

Today's patch is the second part of the Lost in Space update, or as we've been calling it internally, Lost in Space 2: Unlockable Boogaloo. This patch will feature all of the content previewed in the Lost in Space LTM released in-game as unlockable obstacles, with  a total of 10 new obstacles for players to grab! The Lost in Space map, Space, is also featured in this update as a permanent selectable map! Full details on the acquisition of each of these obstacles and map are in the full patch notes. Here's just a tease:

Past adding in those new obstacles and a map, we've also completely revamped the customization menu which should make it even easier for us to add more content going forward. Perceptive skaters might also notice there are two new categories in the customization menu, those being Maps and Grinds. Skaters will now be able to choose the environment they want to skate in, and can change their grinding style. Tailsliding, pictured below, is one of the new grind styles! All unlockables from these can be earned by reaching certain High Score Threshold goals which are detailed more in the full patch notes below.

Finally, we've had somewhat of a complete overhaul on our tutorial to account for all of the new  systems and complexity of the game's progression. It's really cool, featuring Nyami walking new skaters through all of the basics, in addition to everything Beat Skater has to offer. Also it has wicked slow mo effects, so that's rad. We recommend it to both our new and OG skaters, it can be played in the main menu through the credits button.
